Through the trees the morning sun glints and glistens on the surface of the Mississippi River. That same summer sun warmed the wavy, copper-colored tresses of a 12 year old school girl enjoying the first days of summer vacation.

The memory of a breakfast of hot, buttery, sweet cinnamon toast eaten outdoors while soaking up those warm sunny rays, belies the busyness of the upcoming day on the farm. Lots of work canning and preserving the produce of Mom's garden, walking beans and chopping out the weeds, the never-ending cooking, cleaning and laundry for a family of eight - mixed in with the fun of swimming in the creek, the county 4-H fair, baseball games, Bible school, and week-long visits with cousins. It seemed summer would go on forever!

Those summer days flew by and all of a sudden it was September and time for school to resume again.

Having been raised on the Missouri side of the Mississippi River, today finds Judy Schonhoff at home with husband, Jim, in Quincy, Illinois, a sparkling gem of a city high on the eastern banks of that mighty waterway. Now a wife and mother of 3 and grandmother of 3, a college graduate and former teacher, and a REALTOR^® for the past 22 years, Judy has found one of her greatest pleasures to be helping other families find that perfect place in the sun to create their own sweet warm memories.
